THE WORD OF THE LORD IS THE TRUTH

Passage: 1Kings 17:1~24

Key verse: 14

1. The great drought (1-6)

Elijah spoke to King Ahab the word of the Lord. There would be a great drought and no rain would fall without his word. Elijah taught this idol worshipping king that God is the source of the rain and the dew. He is the source of all things. He is the Creator God. As a result of his testimony to Ahab, Elijah had to flee, where he was cared for by ravens.

2. The widow at Zarephath (7-24)

When Elijah's water supply dried up from the drought, the Lord told Elijah to go to a widow who lived in Zarephath. Elijah performed two miracles for her. While she was destitute, her flour and oil didn't run out until the drought ended. And when her son became ill and died, Elijah prayed and life was restored to him. The Lord is the giver of all things. He provides us with water and dew and sustenance and life.

Prayer: Lord, thank you that you are the provider of all things-food, water and life. Help us to depend on you for all things.

One Word: The Lord provides all things faithfully
