SERVANTS OF THE TEMPLE OF THE LORD

Passage: 1Chronicles 23:1~32

Key verse: 30

1. The Levites and priests (1-6,11-14)

Before he died, King David set up the temple service by God's guidance. There were 38,000 Levites who were 30 years old or more, with 24,000 assigned to temple work, 6000 officials and judges, 4000 gatekeepers and 4000 praise band members. The descendants of Aaron were the priests with 4-fold duties: to consecrate the holy things, offer sacrifices, minister and pronounce blessings.

2. The service of the LORD's temple (24-32)

Since the tabernacle was no longer moving around (and the temple would be built), the Levites would not be carrying things but serving the LORD at one location (25-26). See the Levites' assisting duties in the temple (28-29). Especially the Levites were to stand every morning and evening and on special occasions to thank and praise the LORD. This was their responsibility, duty and privilege as servants of the LORD. This is the duty and privilege of every servant of God.

Prayer: Lord, you are worthy of all thanks and praise day and night. May our hearts and lips and lives serve you with thanks and praise.

One Word: Serve the LORD with thanks and praise
