REBEKAH AND ISAAC'S DECISION OF FAITH

Passage: Genesis 24:50~67

Key verse: 58

1. Do not detain me (50-57)

Laban and Bethuel heard of God's work and accepted his sovereignty. Upon hearing, Abraham's servant worshiped God, who opened their hearts and minds to his leading. Then, he shared a fellowship meal with the family. But his mission was not over. Early the next morning he announced that he was ready to go. The family asked for more time to prepare, but Abraham's servant was single-minded in his mission. He shows us how to stay focused on our mission and not get sidetracked.

2. Rebekah's decision, and then Isaac's (58-67)

At this crucial moment, the family realized the final decision was Rebekah's. She too had listened to Abraham's servant. She accepted God's sovereignty and his leading in her life. She did not know Isaac. She only knew that this was God's will, so, she said, "I will go." She went to share in God's history, not to live a self-centered family life (59, 60). Her faith moved her family to bless her future. Later in Canaan, the servant told Isaac about God's leading for Rebekah to be his wife, and Isaac also decided by faith to marry her, And, he loved her.

Prayer: Lord, how blessed we are when we accept your leading! Help me to see your will and make a decision by faith!.

One Word: Accept God's leading by faith
