SPEAK TRUTH TO EACH OTHER
Passage: Zechariah 8:14~23
Key verse: 16
14 This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Just as I had determined to bring disaster(A) on you and showed no pity when your ancestors angered me,” says the Lord Almighty, 15 “so now I have determined to do good(B) again to Jerusalem and Judah.(C) Do not be afraid. 16 These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth(D) to each other, and render true and sound judgment(E) in your courts;(F) 17 do not plot evil(G) against each other, and do not love to swear falsely.(H) I hate all this,” declares the Lord.
18 The word of the Lord Almighty came to me.
19 This is what the Lord Almighty says: “The fasts of the fourth,(I) fifth,(J) seventh(K) and tenth(L) months will become joyful(M) and glad occasions and happy festivals for Judah. Therefore love truth(N) and peace.”
20 This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Many peoples and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come, 21 and the inhabitants of one city will go to another and say, ‘Let us go at once to entreat(O) the Lord and seek(P) the Lord Almighty. I myself am going.’ 22 And many peoples and powerful nations will come to Jerusalem to seek the Lord Almighty and to entreat him.”(Q)
23 This is what the Lord Almighty says: “In those days ten people from all languages and nations will take firm hold of one Jew by the hem of his robe and say, ‘Let us go with you, because we have heard that God is with you.’”(R)

As God had punished their sins, he was determined to do good. This was a new start in their relationship. How would they become a blessing? God emphasized a community built on truth and justice, reflecting his holy character. As they do so, the prescribed fasting and feasts become joyful events of fellowship with God. Therefore, we too should love truth and peace.
2. 'Let us go and seek the LORD Almighty' (20-23)
When their community reflects God’s character all peoples will notice: 'Look at these joyful, truthful and peaceful people!' Many will be drawn to God and encourage each other, 'Let’s go to entreat … and seek the LORD Almighty!' Each one of God’s people will have tenfold influence, as people see: 'God is with you.' This word is accomplished today through the church, if we continue to maintain our fidelity to God’s holy lifestyle, starting from within.
Prayer: Father, you have shown the way to be a blessing. Help me love truth and peace today.
One Word: Love truth and peace
