BECAUSE OF THE LOVE OF YOUR GOD

Passage: 2_Chronicles 9:1~31

Key verse: 8b

1. The queen of Sheba's testimony (1-12)

Solomon's reputation spread far and wide. The queen of Sheba came to meet and test him. She was herself very wealthy and brought extravagant gifts. Yet she was overwhelmed by what she saw in Solomon and Israel. Solomon's wisdom, his palace, his officials, the worship of God, Solomon's opulence, and the happiness of the people far exceeded her expectations. She concluded that these blessings were expressions of God's love for Israel. She reminded King Solomon that God had made him king to maintain justice and righteousness. May we constantly remember how and why God has blessed us.

2. Splendor beyond splendor (13-31)

Verses 13-27 show Solomon's splendor. King Solomon was wealthier and wiser than any king on earth. Solomon was far from perfect (cf. 1 Kings 11), but the author's focus here is on God's one-sided love and faithfulness to his covenant with David and his people Israel.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for loving us and blessing us through Jesus. Help us to maintain justice and righteousness.

One Word: Blessed because of God's love
