MANASSEH KNEW THAT THE LORD IS GOD

Passage: 2_Chronicles 33:1~25

Key verse: 13

1. Manasseh's wickedness (1-11)

Unlike his father Hezekiah, Manasseh did much evil in the eyes of the LORD. He reversed his father's reformation and led his people astray, causing the nation's rapid decline. When God spoke to him through the prophets, he paid no attention, so God punished him through the Assyrian king, who took him to Babylon as a prisoner.

2. God's mercy to Manasseh (12-25)

In his distress Manasseh repented and sought God's favor in great humility. God, in his unbelievable mercy, accepted Manasseh's prayer of repentance and even restored him to his throne in Jerusalem! Then he knew that the LORD alone is God and tried to undo the evil he had done. But it was too late to turn the tide of his bad influence. How deep is God's mercy that even the worst of sinners can be forgiven and restored through repentance and faith! Unlike Manasseh, Amon did evil, but didn't repent. His life tragically ended when he was assassinated.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for extending your mercy through Jesus to a sinner like me. Grant me faith to come to you as I am in repentance.

One Word: God's mercy extends to a repentant sinner.
