THAT YOU MAY TELL YOUR CHILDREN...

Passage: Exodus 10:1~29

Key verse: 2

1. The plague of locusts (1-20)

God wanted his people to remember these plagues in every generation with awe and gratitude, that they may know him as LORD. Pharaoh had been the unquestionable authority over them; now even his officials question his hard heart (7). Pharaoh was unwilling to let all the people go. So God took away even the few crops that were left through a plague of locusts. Again Pharaoh's heart was hard.

2. The plague of darkness (21-29)

The Egyptians worshipped the sun; its light bestowed on them through Pharaoh every morning. But God brought a terrible darkness for 3 days on Egypt, and only the Israelites had light. Pharaoh had to let the people go! But when he heard the terms that all the people and their animals were to leave, his pride flared up and he angrily threatened Moses. His refusal to humble himself before God would be a lesson for every generation against pride. But this also shows the extent of God's power and conviction to deliver his people, no matter how great the opposition.

Prayer: Father, help me remember and share how you delivered us from sin by the power of the cross.

One Word: Humble yourself before the LORD
