PRIESTLY GARMENTS

Passage: Exodus 39:1~43

Key verse: 1

Bezalel and his team made the woven garments for Aaron and his sons. Note the details in gold and the very elaborate patterns, requiring skilled hands. The gold made the garments shine with glory, and the custom pattern set them apart from any other person, revealing the priest as God’s representative. The breastpiece and its precious stones that covered the priest’s heart and weighed on his shoulders indicated his responsibility to God’s people. In this way, God made it clear how much he values each precious tribe and each precious one of his people.

The Israelites completed all the work just as the LORD commanded Moses (repeated 12 times). This was what they were charged to do (36:1), and they were faithful to it. Note their actions in this chapter: They made, mounted, fashioned, etc. Their skill is highlighted. For such talented, creative people, it is not always easy to submit to another’s ideas. But they did so in humility for God’s glory. Moses blessed them, acknowledging all they had done.

Prayer: Father, we are each precious to you like a jewel. Help our pastors have your people on their heart and help us serve humbly.

One Word: As the LORD commanded
