PUT YOUR HOPE IN THE LORD

Passage: Psalm 130:1~131:3

Key verse: 130:7

The Psalmist cried to the LORD out of the depths of his sin. He prayed not only for himself, but also for the nation of Israel. They could not stand before the LORD because of their sins. It seemed like a hopeless situation, but the writer prayed that the LORD would listen to his voice and respond with mercy and forgiveness. He prayed that they might once again worship and serve the LORD.

The Psalmist declared he would wait for the LORD like a watchman. He put his hope in the LORD. The LORD has unfailing love. He alone can redeem people from sin. Hope means waiting for the LORD who revealed himself in his word. Hope is not based on sight but on the love of God and his promise to redeem us from the power of sin.

Psalm 131 describes the nature of hope as waiting for the LORD like a humble child. He is our hope of eternal redemption.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for hearing us when we cry out to you. Bless us to wait for you and hope in your redemption.

One Word: Hope in the LORD
