YOUR GOD HAS BEEN WITH YOU

Passage: Deuteronomy 2:1~25

Key verse: 7b

1. As the Lord had directed me (1-23)

It was a long time-38 years-that the Israelites seemed to wander aimlessly in the wilderness. But this was actually at the Lord's direction, and was in fact the Lord's blessing on all the work of their hands. The Lord led them past Seir, where Esau's descendants lived, also past Moab and Ammon, where Lot's descendants lived. This was a visual for the people of how God had displaced other peoples, and how he was faithful even to Esau and Lot. The Lord was not leading them aimlessly. He revealed himself as their faithful provider. Now that all of the previous generation had perished, it was time for Israel to trust the Lord, believe in his blessing and obey him.

2. Engage him in battle (24-25)

God commanded his people to begin to take possession of the land. But it would not be easy, rather it would be a battle. They would confront the same obstacles that made the prior generation melt in fear 40 years ago. The Lord promised to be with them, and even to put terror and fear in the hearts of their enemies. Their part was to trust God and engage in the battle. Only then would they see the Lord's Presence among them.

Prayer: Lord, help me to trust in your presence in the battles of my life, that I may know you more.

One Word: The Lord is with us
