ESTHER WON THE FAVOR OF EVERYONE

Passage: Esther 2:1~23

Key verse: 15

When King Xerxes started regretting his action, his attendants suggested searching for a beautiful virgin as a new queen. As the king's command reached every province of his realm, an extravagant search was conducted to find the most beautiful woman to please the king (4).

Esther was among the women brought to the harem. Her beauty was outstanding. She found favor in everyone who saw her and pleased the king who crowned her as queen (17). She lacked a prestigious family background (10), and she did not attempt to ornate herself with what the king's riches could afford (13). But with her wisdom and understanding of the Lord, Esther was found precious (Prov 3:15). God's work moved the hearts of even the ungodliest men. Esther won the favor of men because of God's providence.

Mordecai faithfully kept his post at the king's gate and guided Esther with his wisdom (20). He also exposed those who conspired to assassinate the king (22). Mordecai did not receive a reward at the time but later, at the right time, saw how all things worked together by God's plan (Esther 6; Romans 8:28).

Prayer: Father, thank you for leading me according to your plan. Please give me the wisdom to trust you when I feel like I am in the darkness and to always live before you.

One Word: God is in control.
