CIRCUMCISE YOUR HEARTS

Passage: Deuteronomy 10:1~22

Key verse: 16

1. God gives the Ten Commandments...again (1-11)

After Moses prayed and the Lord promised to go with the people, he called Moses up the mountain a second time, and with the finger of God he again wrote out the Ten Commandments. He again made this people his covenant people. It was not God's will to destroy them. It was his will to bear this sinful nation to the Promised Land. It is the foreshadowing of the cross of Christ, who bore the wrath of God against sin on himself, on our behalf. It was the will of God to reveal himself in this way.

2. Circumcise your hearts (12-22)

God called the nation of Israel to open their hearts and souls to him, to fear him and love him with all that they were. He is the almighty creator God, and yet he bound himself to this stiff-necked people, and would be called by their name-the God of Israel. Circumcision of the heart means turning toward God as we are-a stiff-necked people-believing he will accept our love. It means practicing the way of God until he mends our hearts and makes us over in his wonderful image. It is faith to plunge our lives into God himself.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for your mercy. Circumcise my heart so that I may love you fully.

One Word: Circumcise your heart
