NORTHERN KINGS DEFEATED

Passage: Joshua 11:1~23

Key verse: 6

When Jabin, king of Hazor heard that the Israelites had defeated so many kings and kingdoms in the area, he sent word to all his allies to come up together and attack Israel. They were a huge army, “as numerous as the sand on the seashore.” They also had a large number of horses and chariots. Surely this must have been a fearful sight.

But again, God assured Joshua and Israel in verse 6, “Do not be afraid of them, because by this time tomorrow I will hand all of them, slain, over to Israel.” With this sure promise from God, Joshua and his whole army came and attacked them. Then the Lord gave them into the hand of Israel. The Israelites defeated all those enemies completely by the help of God. By God’s help, Joshua and the Israelites were able to destroy all these kingdoms in the northern area. After all these victories, the land had rest from war.

After Jesus had won the complete victory over the enemy, Satan, he gave us rest from war. As the Prince of Peace, Jesus gives us peace and rest when we come to him.

Prayer: Thank you, God, for the complete victory of Jesus over the enemy, Satan. Thank you for the rest you give us from war.

One Word: God gives us complete rest after complete victory in Jesus.
