THE FIRSTBORN REDEEMED

Passage: Numbers 3:21~51

Key verse: 3:41

First, the clans of Levi (21-38). Each clan of the Levites camped on one side of the tabernacle. The Gershonites were responsible for the tabernacle, the tent and the curtains. The Kohathites were responsible for the sanctuary and everything in it, including the ark. The Merarites took care of the frames, crossbars and posts. Moses, Aaron and his sons camped in front of the sanctuary. They were the only ones allowed to minister at the sanctuary. Second, redemption (39-51). The census recorded 22,000 Levites. God took the Levites in place of all firstborn human males of Israel. The Levites' livestock was also taken in place of the firstborn of Israel's livestock. However, there were 273 more Israelite firstborn males than Levites. Money was collected and then offered as their redemption price. This imperfect redemption model looked forward to the perfect redemption from sin in Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for redeeming us from sin by your life. Help me to be a responsible servant.

One Word: Redeemed by the LORD
