CONSECRATED TO THE LORD

Passage: Numbers 7:1~89

Key verse: 7:4-5

First, the anointing and consecration of the altar and gifts (1-9). Gifts for the Tabernacle were presented by the twelve tribes. God stirred the hearts of the people and they rose to the occasion. Moses was dedicating these items to the Lord. They could only be used for the Lord's purposes, for his glory alone. There are things that are declared holy and are set apart for the glory of God. Second, God accepted the offerings and honored each of the leaders and their tribes (10-89). When the altar was dedicated, each of the tribal leaders brought an offering. Their offering truly reflected their love for and their faith in God. We might be tempted to skip over the details of the offerings since they were all identical offerings. But to God, each person and tribe is so precious, that every detail is repeated. It is a comfort to know that God sees and recognizes individual acts of faith.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for accepting our offerings and seeing us as individuals. We offer our lives to you.

One Word: Lord, consecrate me to yourself
