LIVE IN PEACE AND HARMONY

Passage: Philippians 4:1~9

Key verse: 4:7

First, live in harmony with each other (1-4). Paul's love and affection for the Philippians was tremendous. With great tenderness, he urged them to be of the same mind in the Lord. In order for this to happen, they needed to resolve any conflicts that threatened their unity. So Paul pleaded with Euodia and Syntyche to resolve their differences with the help of others in the church. They were fruitful gospel workers whose names were written in the book of life. How could they let anything divide them in this way? Second, the peace of God (5-9). In order to guard our hearts and minds from all that would divide and trouble us, we need the supernatural peace of God. This peace comes to us when we rejoice in the Lord in all circumstances and offer prayers to the Lord with genuine thanksgiving. Peace comes into our hearts when we live in the presence of the Lord and rely on His provision instead of being anxious about our lives. It comes when we show gentleness to others, think noble thoughts, and put the word of God into practice. In this way, not only do we receive the peace of God, but the God of peace himself.

Prayer: Father, help us to live in harmony with others and let your peace fill our hearts and our minds.

One Word: The peace of God will guard you
