I HAVE FOUGHT THE GOOD FIGHT

Passage: 2Timothy 4:6~8

Key verse: 7

1. I have kept the faith (6-7)

Paul knew that the end of his life is near. According to tradition, he was martyred in Rome. Paul referred to his ministry as a priestly duty. He preached the gospel so that the Gentiles might be an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit (Ro 15:16). His own life was the drink offering, poured out on the altar with the sacrifice. He was a soldier of Christ who could say, ' I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.'

2. A crown of righteousness (8)

The crown of righteousness is a symbol of victory. He did not receive it because of his merit, but because of his faith and God's faithfulness. He believed the promise of God. He believed that God had forgiven him and made him righteous through faith in Jesus. He looked forward eagerly to the second coming of Jesus because he was spiritually ready to meet Jesus.

Prayer: Lord, enable me to say, 'I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.'

One Word: I have fought a good fight
