THE SHELTER OF THE MOST HIGH
Passage: Psalm 91:1~16
Key verse: 2
Psalm 911 Whoever dwells in the shelter(A) of the Most High
will rest in the shadow(B) of the Almighty.[a]
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge(C) and my fortress,(D)
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare(E)
and from the deadly pestilence.(F)
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;(G)
his faithfulness will be your shield(H) and rampart.
5 You will not fear(I) the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.(J)
9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm(K) will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels(L) concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;(M)
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.(N)
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.(O)

1. Make the Lord your dwelling (1-13)
People seek security in other people, or in education or jobs or savings accounts. But even if they have these things, their hearts are full of anxiety, for they realize that these things do not give security. There is no security except security in God. He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High God finds peace and freedom from fear, no matter how terrifying the circumstances may be. God saves us from the traps the devil sets for us. His faithfulness is our shield. We may see with our eyes the punishment of the wicked, but it will not come near us. His angels protect us in the day of terror.
2. I will show him my salvation (14-16)
God promises to rescue and protect those who love him. He promises to answer those who call on him and bless those who acknowledge his name. He kept his promise to show us his salvation when he sent Jesus.
Prayer: Lord, let me dwell under the shadow of your wings and depend on you alone as my security.
One Word: The Lord is my dwelling place
