A MAN OF PRAYER

Passage: Psalm 109:1~31

Key verse: 4b,26

1. Attacked without cause (1-20)

Perhaps David wrote this psalm when Saul was seeking his life or perhaps it was when Absalom led a rebellion against him (2Sa 15).There may be times in a person's life when enemies try to destroy him--perhaps by spreading evil stories about him; perhaps by accusing him in court. What does God's man do? He should not use the same tactics as his accuser. He must pray. The prayer of the psalmist does not reach New Testament standards, but it is honest. When anger is brought to God, he takes it away and heals the heart.

2. My heart is wounded (21-26)

The psalmist accepts the sovereignty of God. He trusts God's love. He acknowledges that he cannot help himself. He lays his wounded heart before God and prays for deliverance. He wants all the world to know that it is the Lord who delivers him. The Lord delivers him so that he may praise and extol the name of the Lord.

Prayer: Lord, teach me to pray in every situation. Thank you for your faithfulness to answer my prayers.

One Word: Lord, help me to pray
