A MAN OF PRAYER

Passage: Psalm 109:1~31

Key verse: 109:1

First, but I am a man of prayer (1-20). The psalmist suffers from evil accusers who mistreated him. Yet he does not take revenge. He is a man of prayer. He brings his case to God who avenges the mistreated. This psalm reminds us of Jesus who suffered by his people and especially by Judas Iscariot. He attacked Jesus without cause. He repaid evil for good and hatred for his friendship. Therefore he was cursed. His days were few. Another took his place. His name was blotted out. We live among those who find no pleasure in blessing and who never think of doing a kindness but speak evil of God's people and accuse them. Before them what can we do? We should be a man of prayer. Second, I will extol the Lord (21-31). David confessed how poor and helpless he was. But he was a man of prayer. He went to God and asked his deliverance for God's name's sake. He was sure that God would save his life from those who condemned him. Therefore, he could greatly extol the Lord. This part reminds us of Jesus who entrusted his life to God who would save him and bless him though wicked men cursed him to death.

Prayer: Lord, teach me to pray in every situation. Thank you for your love to answer all my prayers.

One Word: Bring all to God in prayer
