BOAST ABOUT THIS

Passage: Jeremiah 9:7~26

Key verse: 24

1. Because they have forsaken my law (7-16)

God's people spoke cordially to their neighbors, but in their hearts they set traps for them (8). God would punish them for this (9). Jerusalem would become a deserted heap of ruins (11). A wise, instructed person could know that this happened when God's people forsook his law and followed idols and their own stubborn hearts (12-14). So they would be scattered among nations and pursued with the sword (16).

2. Boast about knowing the Lord (17-26)

God's people needed to hire mourners to teach them to lament. Dead bodies would lie in the fields like dung and cut grain (22). Greater than wisdom, strength or riches is knowing the Lord and that he delights in kindness, justice and righteousness (23-24). God wants a circumcised heart (25-26).

Prayer: Lord, you are kind, just and righteous. May my life advertise your goodness and greatness.

One Word: Boast in the Lord
