JESUS IS COMING AGAIN IN POWER

Passage: 2Peter 1:12~21

Key verse: 16

1. A loving reminder (12-15)

Peter knows that we need constant reminders. It is our God-given duty to remind each other, young and old, of our calling in Christ and the importance of living godly lives that avoid stumbling and falling. Although Peter stumbled and fell when he denied the Lord three times, his faith remained intact and he finished strong. His life is inspiring to us. Whenever we fail, we must turn back to Christ and finish strong like he did. Reminders help us to remain faithful.

2. The coming of Christ in power (16-21)

Our motivation for living godly lives is the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is coming in power to judge the world and to restore all creation. Peter, James, and John personally witnessed the glory of Christ when he was transfigured on the mountain. They heard the voice of God saying, "This is my Son whom I love; with him I am well pleased." No doubt, Peter connected this with scriptures like Psalm 2. In this psalm, God declares that he will make the nations the inheritance of his son and the ends of the earth his possession. Our Lord reigns and he is coming again! All scripture is spoken by God through the Holy Spirit and is dependable.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, we long for your second coming.

One Word: Live for the coming of Christ!
