GOD IS DRAWING ALL OF HIS PEOPLE NEAR

Passage: Jeremiah 31:1~22

Key verse: 3

1. The fatherly quality of God's love (1-14)

It has been about two centuries since Ephraim, was invaded by the Assyrians. Though they had sinned, God still loved them and longed for them to be gathered close. God's desire was to forgive them, have their nation be restored with bountiful harvests and streets filled with joyful sounds. He would gather even the weakest among them. A remnant would eventually return. God loves all of his beloved children. We can rest in the love of our faithful God and in his ability to draw us near to him.

2. God's redemption came by suffering (15-22)

There will be a time of hardship in making their hearts right with God. The exiles from Ephraim (Samaria) had grief that was so intense. Through it all, they realized that they were wrong and repented. God brought about a change of heart. Never dismay over your present hardships. Know that God is using them to draw you close to himself.

Prayer: Lord, I trust your unfailing kindness. Thank you for drawing all of your people near to you.

One Word: God's unfailing kindness
