DAVID DISPLEASED THE LORD

Passage: 2Samuel 11:14~27

Key verse: 27

1. A sin bears another sin (14-24)

David tried to cover up his sin another way. He wrote a letter to Joab. By this letter, Joab put Uriah into the front line of the battle and Uriah died. Joab sent a messenger to let David know the outcome. When David did not repent his sin of adultery, his sin bore bad fruits of more sins: murder, lies, corruption, and betrayal. And his sin led Joab to sin together. Sin affect others as yeast in the dough.

2. David displeased the LORD (25-27)

When Uriah's wife heard that her husband was dead, she mourned for him. After the time of mourning was over, David brought her to his house as his wife. As king, David gave a great favor to a widow, Bathsheba. All of Israel could have thought King David had been generous to her, and he could cover up his sins. But David displeased the LORD. Without repenting my hidden sin, no one can please God.

Prayer: Lord, help me to repent my sins and please God.

One Word: Repent of sins and please God
