GOD FULFILLS HIS PROMISES

Passage: 1Kings 8:1~21

Key verse: 15

1. The glory of the LORD filled his temple (1-13)

The last item to be placed in the temple was the ark of the LORD's covenant. The ark represented God's covenant relationship with Israel. The covenant is based on God's Law. Solomon gathered the elders of Israel to Jerusalem for the occasion. Countless sheep and cattle were sacrificed while the ark was moved. After it was placed into the Most Holy Place, the glory of the LORD filled the temple. This was God's reminder of his commitment to the people. The temple was a magnificent structure but only after the ark was placed in it was it truly ready to be used.

2. The LORD has kept his promise (14-21)

Solomon praised God for fulfilling what he had promised to David. God had chosen David and his descendants to rule the people. God also promised David that his son would build a temple for God's name. Solomon understood how blessed he was to be a part of what God wanted to accomplish. God always fulfills his promises to his people.

Prayer: Lord, we praise you for keeping all of your promises. Please let your glory fill our places of worship, our homes and our hearts.

One Word: Praise God who keeps his promises!
