EVEN IF HE DOES NOT

Passage: Daniel 3:1~18

Key verse: 18

1. Worship the image of gold (1-7)

Nebuchadnezzar set up a huge image of gold, 27 meters high and ordered all people under his dominion to worship it as they heard the music sound. The king used it to unite all and strengthen his kingship. He threatened all to enforce it, "Whoever does not fall down, and worship will immediately be thrown into a blazing furnace." Therefore, all people of every language obeyed the king in order not to be put to death.

2. We will not worship an idol (8-18)

But there were some like Daniel's three friends who did not worship the image. The king was furious but gave them one more chance using Satan's strategy to ruin their faith. The three believed, "God would be able to deliver us from the blazing furnace." They went further, "even if he does not, we will not serve or worship the image." Their faith was not based on God's visible blessings but on God's everlasting love, power and his good will.

Prayer: Lord, I will worship you only even if my prayer is not always answered, for you know what is best for me.

One Word: 'Lord, I will worship you only'
