BRAVE WARRIORS

Passage: 1Chronicles 7:1~8:40

Key verse: 7:40a

1. Fighting men of remaining tribes (7:1-40)

When including the tribes of Issachar, Benjamin, Naphtali, Manasseh, Ephraim and Asher, the Chronicler is careful to mention the number of fighting men who were available in David's time for the building up of his kingdom. Although each was unique, and some were obscure, every tribe was important, and all found unity in their identity as God's people in the Davidic Kingdom. So we too find unity and importance in Jesus' kingdom.

2. Benjamites in Jerusalem (8:1-40)

Revisiting the tribe of Benjamin, the Chronicler points out how these heads of families supported David by living in Jerusalem. When the kingdom was divided in Solomon's day, half of Benjamin (as well as Levi and Simeon) remained faithful to David's line, forming the southern kingdom. Saul's line will be revisited again in chapter 9.

Prayer: Father, help me find my importance and role in unity with your people in Jesus' kingdom, and be faithful to you.

One Word: Be a brave warrior in Jesus' kingdom
