First, unacceptable offerings (17-25). Defective animals were not as valuable or precious. Offerings to God had to be without defect. Sometimes we might be tempted to give God leftovers, like Cain, rather than our best, like Abel (Gen 4:3-5). God deserves and expects better than that. Second, acceptable offerings (26-33). A calf or lamb was acceptable only after 8 days old. A thank offering had to be eaten the same day. Read verses 31-33. God is the Lord who made his people holy and who brought them out of Egypt to be their God. God's name can be profaned or acknowledged as holy. Jesus taught us to pray, 'Hallowed be your name.'

Prayer: Lord, forgive my profanity, unbelief and complaining that dishonors your name. May your name be acknowledged as holy in my life.

One Word: His name is holy
