SO THAT IT MAY GO WELL WITH YOU

Passage: Deuteronomy 22:1~30

Key verse: 7b

1. Do not ignore it (1-12)

There are many different laws here. But they all point to the fact that, as God's family, we are not like isolated islands. We are God's people, and we should treat each other with respect and with love. When one of our neighbors needs a helping hand, we should lend that hand. We are not to be indifferent to our fellow human being. We are to care even for animals who are helpless or injured. While some of these laws may not be applicable to us (parapets around our rooves), the spirit of the law-care and concern for others-still applies today. God promised to bless with long life those who follow these laws.

2. Marriage purity (13-30)

Marriage is a sacred thing. It comes from God and must be kept pure. That is what these laws deal with. If a man suspects his wife of unfaithfulness, he would be punished for making a false accusation against her. To take someone's virginity would be taking on the responsibility of marriage to that person. Sexual violence against a woman was to be punished most severely.

Prayer: Lord, help me not be indifferent to others' needs, but to help them with the love of Christ in my heart. Help to keep our hearts pure.

One Word: Do not be indifferent
