THE GLORY OF THE LORD FILLED THE TABERNACLE

Passage: Exodus 40:1~38

Key verse: 34

Moses placed and set up all the elements of the Tabernacle just as the Lord commanded him. The elements all had to be anointed and consecrated to be made holy. God is holy. His people must come to him and worship him according to his word. God showed them how by writing it down in the covenant law kept in the ark and giving them the Tabernacle. God, through Jesus, has given us a new covenant that enables us to come to God and worship him in holiness by the shed blood of Jesus.

After everything was put in place and properly consecrated, the glory of the LORD came upon it and filled it. The LORD who called them out of Egypt to dwell with him in worship (3:12; 4:23; etc.) was now going to travel with them to fulfill his promise to Abraham (3:8). The people spent nine months (cf. v. 17, 19:1) at the mountain to receive the covenant law, build the tabernacle, and learn to worship God. Now their journey would resume.

Prayer: Father, thank you for sending Jesus to make your dwelling with us and to show us how to live with you and worship you properly. Help me to do so today.

One Word: God’s glory in the face of Christ
