REMEMBER AND PROCLAIM WHAT GOD HAS DONE

Passage: Psalm 105:1~23

Key verse: 5

This psalm proclaims many things the LORD did for Abraham’s descendants, based on Genesis and Exodus. The author starts with ten exhortations (read verses 1-4 again).

Then he says, “Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced…” The LORD remembers his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—to give them the promised land. When they were few and aliens in foreign lands, God rebuked kings not to harm his anointed ones. It was God’s loving favor for Abraham and his descendants.

God sent times of famine for his own purposes. Joseph became a slave in Egypt and then a prisoner due to wicked schemes against him. But God was still in control. God exalted Joseph to be the governor of Egypt after he prophetically interpreted Pharaoh’s dreams, which came to pass. Joseph had wisdom from God. Then Jacob and his sons moved down to Egypt. To be continued…

Prayer: LORD God, thank you for the recorded history in Genesis of your chosen people—Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph. It tells of your love and faithfulness to them and their descendants. Thank you for Jesus Christ your Son, our Lord, your greatest favor and mercy to us.

One Word: Remember and thank God for what he has done.
