PRAISE THE LORD, OUR DELIVERER

Passage: Psalm 105:24~45

Key verse: 26

The earlier part of this psalm reviewed Genesis from Abraham to Joseph. This part reviews Exodus. Moses was the great deliverer of the LORD’s people from their slavery in Egypt. God’s people became numerous in Egypt, and they were hated and enslaved. God raised up Moses to deliver them through ten devastating plagues of judgment on Egypt. The psalmist retells 8 of the 10 plagues (Can you find the missing ones?).

After the 10th plague on the firstborn, God brought the Israelites out with silver and gold. Egypt was glad to let them leave. (Note: the missing plagues were on livestock and boils.)

God guided them with cloud and fire. God fed them quail and manna from heaven. God gave them water from a rock. God did all this to keep his covenant promise to Abraham and his descendants. God gave them great joy and lands belonging to others. God only wanted them to keep his laws and live as his faithful covenant people.

Prayer: LORD God, you are our Deliverer. You delivered your people Israel out of slavery in Egypt with a mighty hand through your servant Moses. Thank you for your deliverance from sin, death, and the devil through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

One Word: Praise the LORD, our Deliverer
