JESUS DIED AND WAS BURIED

Passage: Mark 15:33~47

Key verse: 15:39

First, Jesus died for us (33-41). Jesus was on the cross for six hours. At that point, Jesus cried out, 'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?' The agony of this separation from God was more than that of the physical pain or the crucifixion. After someone gave him some wine vinegar, Jesus breathed his last, with a loud cry. The curtain in the temple was torn in two, and when the centurion who was with Jesus, saw how he died, he proclaimed, 'Surely this was the Son of God!' Jesus was silent throughout his time of suffering and crucifixion. What pained him was that his Father had forsaken him and his separation from Him. Second, Jesus was buried (42-47) Joseph of Arimathea was a prominent Jew. He went to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body. He took it, wrapped the body in clean linen and placed it in a tomb. Then he rolled a stone in front of the tomb. Two Mary's watched where he was buried.

Prayer: Lord, help us to know Jesus' pain that we may really repent of our sins and come to you.

One Word: Jesus died for us
