ISRAEL TAKES POSSESSION OF THE NATIONS

Passage: Isaiah 14:1~32

Key verse: 2a

1 The Lord has compassion on Jacob

(1-2, 24-27)

God punishes Israel not to destroy but to discipline her. Once again God returns Israel to her own place. She will take possession of the nations. She will make captives of their captors. How can this be possible? It is because the Lord Almighty has sworn it. Surely, as the Lord has planned, so it will be! For what the Lord has purposed, who thwart it? We are scared by the super power nations who seem to control the entire nations. But God is the Sovereign Lord. He will carry out his world salvation plan accordingly through us, his remnants.

2. The Lord will cut off Babylon but establish Zion (4-23,28-32)

God used Babylon as his rod. But she became proud saying, "I will ascend to the heavens. I will make myself like the most High!" But God detests the proud. He brings her down to the ground as well as Assyria and Philistine. and all the kingdoms of this world that stand against the Almighty will be brought down. But the Lord's people will find refuge in God. The Lord will establish his remnants in Zion.

Prayer: Lord, let me never be proud but always humble. Make us take possession of all nations with the gospel.

One Word: God's people will possess the nations
