THEY MUST EACH TURN FROM EVIL

Passage: Jeremiah 25:1~14

Key verse: 5

1. God pleads with his people (1-11)

God pled with his people through Jeremiah for many years. Sending the Babylonians wasn't his original plan. He would rather see his people repent, turn from evil and return to him. But his people brought their suffering upon themselves. God went to extremes to turn their hearts. With tears, he would send his people into exile. This punishment would be redemptive, for after seventy years, a remnant would return. They will rebuild the walls of Jerusalem and build the nation of God newly.

2. All nations must stand before God (12-14)

Some pagan nations were for a short time, used by God for his purpose. But they would not be exempt from judgment themselves. They too would have to answer for their sins against God, for the God of the Israelites was the God of all nations.

Prayer: Lord, you plead with us because you love us. Help me to hear your word, turn from evil and obey you, for I know your desire to have me near you.

One Word: Listen to God's plea to repent
