GOD BUILDS DAVID'S ARMY

Passage: 1Chronicles 12:1~22

Key verse: 18b

1. Saul's relatives and Gadites (1-15)

David was banished from Saul, and had to find refuge with the Philistines, who gave him Ziklag. How would he be able to serve his people, and fight their battles? God moved the hearts of mighty warriors in Israel to come to him, including Saul's relatives among the Benjamites and army commanders of Gad. To do so they defected to David. But this was the only way to really serve God's purpose to rescue Israel and establish the kingdom.

2. David welcomed many (16-22)

While at the Ziklag stronghold, Benjamites, men of Judah, and some of the tribe of Manasseh defected to David. How could he trust them, or them him? He welcomed their help and chose to live in fear of God the judge of all, instead of people. The Spirit of God prophesied success through Amasai. They came to David out of faith in God, and confidence God is helping Israel. In this way, God built up an army for David, to help him fight the Lord's battles.

Prayer: Father, success comes from you. Help me trust in you to provide the help I need.

One Word: Real help comes from God
