GOD SENDS A BIBLE TEACHER

Passage: Ezra 7:1~28

Key verse: 10

1. One devoted Bible teacher (1-10)

Not all of the exiled Jews returned to Jerusalem; many continued to live scattered throughout the Persian Empire. Ezra the priest lived in Babylon, but he had kept his identity as God's servant and especially focused on studying and teaching the Law of the Lord. Ezra had also risen to an influential position in the court of Artaxerxes. God had raised up Ezra for the work he had to do in his generation.

2. Ezra's mission (11-28)

King Artaxerxes sent Ezra to Jerusalem, along with any other Israelites who wanted to accompany him. He was sent to teach the Law of Moses to the people there and raise up ministers and judges who would practice justice according to the Law. Artaxerxes also supplied abundant provisions for the journey and for the temple. This enlightened king understood that the best way to build up a nation was based on God's laws. He was surely influenced by the good example of the exiles. Ezra summoned his courage for the journey.

Prayer: Father, please equip me to serve you in this generation. Give me courage to go wherever you lead me.

One Word: Devoted to study and teach the word of God
