1. The Holy Spirit and the voice of God (21-22)
Jesus was baptized too by John, but not for sin. It was for Jesus' strengthening. The Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And God's voice from heaven said, "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased." The Holy Spirit revealed Jesus as God's Anointed. God the Father revealed Jesus as his beloved Son.
2. Jesus descended from Adam (23-38)
Jesus was about thirty years old when he began his ministry. His human descent is traced through David and Abraham all the way back to Adam. This emphasizes Jesus' humanity. It also shows that Jesus came in fulfillment of God's promises to Abraham and David.
Prayer: Thank you Lord Jesus, Son of God, for coming in the flesh to save us.
One Word: The Son of God and Son of Man has come
