SO THAT YOU MAY LIVE

Passage: Deuteronomy 4:1~14

Key verse: 1

1. So that you may live (1-8)

The nation of Israel was about to cross the Jordan and do battle with many nations. What did they need at this time? This is the time Moses repeated the Law to the people. They needed the word of God more than anything. The people assembled before Moses were not the same as those who had received the Law 40 years earlier. Moses would now teach them the word, so that they might live and take possession of God's promises. The word of God is life.

2. Remember and don't forget (9-14)

Having the word of God is essential. Remembering and not forgetting God's word, obeying it and not letting it fade from our hearts, is how we meet our God and experience his glory. It is no less than what the people of Israel experienced at the fiery mountain where God gave his word to them through his servant Moses. The Israelites would surely possess the land they were about to enter. But land is not life; we only have life when we follow the word of the Lord.

Prayer: Lord, your word is life. Help me to hold on to your word, obey it and experience your glory.

One Word: Follow God's word and live
