BUT GOD RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD

Passage: Acts 2:14~36

Key verse: 24a

1. I will pour out my Spirit on all people (14-21)

Joy so filled the disciples that the people thought they were drunk. Peter used the opportunity to explain the real reason for their behavior, that as had been prophesied, God had poured out his Spirit in the last days. Because of the gospel, sons and daughters could now be filled with vision, old men could dream big, and everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

2. But God raised him from the dead (22-24)

This was all possible because of Jesus. God accredited his Son by miracles, wonders and signs yet the people rejected and crucified him. But God raised him from the dead! Jesus' death and resurrection had a huge impact. It was now impossible for death to keep its hold on him, nor those who believe in him.

3. You will not abandon me to the realm of the dead (25-36)

King David, with prophetic insight, foresaw the resurrection of the Messiah. He understood that God would not abandon him to the realm of the dead. His hope was in God and he knew that Jesus, as his descendant, would one day be both Lord and Messiah. The apostles were the first witnesses to the fact that Jesus was raised to life.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for our risen Jesus. Please pour out your Holy Spirit on us, that we might be witness. .

One Word: God raised Jesus from the dead
