JESUS IS CONDEMNED

Passage: Mark 14:53~72

Key verse: 62

1. Peter follows at a distance (53-54)

Peter had declared that he would never disown Jesus. But neither could he be with Jesus. So he waited near the warm fire.

2. "I am." (55-65)

Jesus did not respond to false accusations about him. But when they asked him directly, "Are you the Messiah?" Jesus answered, "I am." He is the picture of our God who suffers to bear all of our rebellion on himself. He is indeed their glorious Messiah and ours.

3. Peter remembers Jesus' words (66-72)

Peter desired to love and serve Jesus, but he instead disavowed his Lord before some servant girls. But Jesus had planted his word of truth in Peter's heart. When he remembered, he broke down and wept. Such was the picture of the glorious Messiah to Peter.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for Jesus who reveals himself in glory by being condemned at our hands. Bless me to meet him personally and newly.

One Word: Jesus is our Messiah
