I AM THE LORD’S SERVANT

Passage: Luke 1:26~38

Key verse: 38

The angel came to Mary. She was a virgin pledged to be married to Joseph. Mary was waiting for her wedding day and dreaming about her married life. Suddenly, an angel came to her. The angel said to her that she will conceive and give birth to a son. She was to name her son Jesus.

Jesus will sit on David’s throne. He will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end. Sure, David and Solomon were great kings. But they only lasted for a few decades. Their kingdom did not last forever. But this Jesus will be a new kind of King. His kingdom will never end. He will be called the Son of the Most High. In short, he is the Son of God, God himself, the Messiah, and the promised Savior. God was fulfilling his promise to mankind through a young girl in Judah.

Mary had to let go of her sweet dream with Joseph. But she had faith in God. She said, “I am the Lord’s servant.” She had faith in God to accept God’s promise. Through her faith, she became the mother of the Savior of the world.

When we also say, “I am the Lord’s servant,” and accept God’s vision and will for our life, God can use us mightily for his world salvation work.

Prayer: May God grant us a humble faith to accept God’s words like Mary, “I am the Lord’s servant,” and be used preciously for God’s work in our life.

One Word: I am the Lord’s servant.
