1. In the night I remember your name (49-56)
There are two verses in this passage which speak about remembering God's word in the night (55,62). When we are away from friends and God's family, alone in some far place, we are vulnerable to temptation, especially at night. But no matter where we may be, we are never away from the protecting care and all-seeing eyes of God. Sometimes even in a familiar environment we are troubled and cannot sleep. The psalmist tells us that this is a good time to get up and pray. It is a good time to remember God's grace and give thanks.
2. You are my portion, O Lord (57-64)
When we obey God's word, and seek him with all our hearts, he meets us and gives us inner peace and joy that no person or circumstance can take away. When the Lord is my portion, I know that all the earth is filled with his love.
Prayer: Father, help me to remember you in the night and seek your face with all my heart for you are my portion and my very great reward.
One Word: The Lord is my portion
